DOG OWNERS

Please clear up after your dog and use the black waste bins around the village or take it home and use your own black bin. Wardens have issued fixed penalty notices - Beware and ensure your dog has a name tag.

The CRIME REPORT for December highlighted the following incidents in Barwick (2) - burglary attack thro euro- profile lock but new 'snap safe' type fitted so no entry gained but damage to door frame caused : public order threatening & abusive behavior with arrest of suspect.   Scholes (7) - assault at xmas party : burglary thro euro profile lock with various items taken : criminal damage to motor vehicles in Milton Drive (scratch down full length & wing mirror knocked off)  : theft from vehicle door forced & items remove : handbag theft in public house : theft from garden centre.

The local priorities were (1) reduction in burglary other (2) reduction in burglary dwellings and (3) speeding in the villages

Operation Bellweather was currently running and having a positive impact within the community targeting burglaries where several leads were being investigated. There was also another message for all residents to be vigilant and to secure their premises at all times, even when in residence. Calls with regard to anti social behaviour (ASB) were currently low with patrols ongoing in hotspot areas. For security advice or to report suspicious activity - 0845 6060606 or 0113 285 5374

ARE YOU RE-CYCLING YOUR WASTE - please use your green and brown waste bins and place glass in the bottle banks at The Buffers and Gascoigne Pubs.

SEWER BLOCKAGES A number of blockages have been reported recently and found to be caused by BABY WIPES being flushed into the system. Please DO NOT flush such items down the loo as it causes great inconvenience to neighbouring properties when blockages result.

DOGS BANNED from JACK HEAPS FIELD - due to the irresponsible behaviour of dog owners who fail to clear up after their dogs the Parish Council has unanimously decided that dogs will be banned from this area in future.

The land was donated to the Parish by Jack Heaps and was intended as a play area for young children. It is therefore unacceptable that dog mess is left as a danger to children. It is regretted that responsible dog owners who do use the dog bin provided will find this ban of some inconvenience but the welfare of the children is of primary importance. Leeds City dog wardens will be keeping a close watch on the situation. There is general concern throughout the Parish at irresponsible dog owners who do not clear up after their dogs and efforts will be made to prosecute if appropriate. Dog owners are advised that it is now permissible to place plastic dog poo bags in the weekly rubbish bins.
